How do you transform a percentage into a fraction?

first of all, you see the number of the percentage. Let's say you have 68%, all you have to do is simply put the percentage on the numerator, the denominator should be 100.

Like that you formed a fraction: 68/100 :)

To answer your question, you must first understand that a percentage is a fraction with the denominator which is equal to 100. Therefore, 12% = 12/100.

When we have a percentage, it is imperative to put it in the form of a fraction with 100 as the denominator. After this step, if the numerator is a decimal number, then we will have to remove the comma by multiplying the denominator and the numerator by 10, 100 or 1000 depending on the number of digits after the decimal point.

Once all this is done, if requested, we will have to simplify the fraction as much as possible.

Okay, now that we've got the basics in place, let's move on to an example.

$$ 34.8 \% = \frac{34.8} {100} = \frac{34.8 * 10} {100 * 10} = \frac {348} {1000} = $$

$$ \frac { 348 \div4} {1000 \div4} = \frac {87} {250} $$

You can see that here there was only one digit after the decimal point and that, therefore, we have multiplied the two members of the fraction by 10. The comma has disappeared 🤗.

Finally, to simplify the fraction as much as possible, we looked for the GCD between 348 and 1000 and it turns out that it is 4.

We obtained that 34.8% = 87/250
