      Thanks for your question!

      The difference between magma and lava lies in their locations.

      Magma is found within the magma chamber beneath the lithosphere at the centre of the volcano.

      When the magma is expelled outside the volcano, it becomes lava. Some gases escape the magma as it exits the volcano.
