    Hello Calm Swan!

    Welcome on the Help Zone!

Gas exchange occurs in the human body to release toxic gases, such as \(CO_2\), and to bring in needed gases, such as \(O_2\).

Gas exchange occurs on the principle of diffusion, as gas moves from a place of higher concentration to a place of lower concentration. For example, when we breathe, the air in our lungs has a higher concentration of oxygen than our blood. This forces oxygen to move from the lungs to the blood.
