A twist is the effect of a force. On the other hand, tension is a type of force.
More specifically, tension is defined by two forces in opposing directions are exerted upon an object, thus causing it to stretch.
A twist is an effect on an object resulting from two forces exerted in opposing directions relative to an axis (clockwise and counterclockwise, in other words).
