    Hi!

    The first thing you have to do is find out what the expression "keeping up with the Joneses" mean.

    Once you know, you have to ask yourself if the characters of the book are trying to "keep up with the Joneses". So you will take position with a yes or no (in a full sentence) and then explain why you are taking this position.

    Here is an example of answer :

    Yes, the characters in The Great Gatsby are trying to "keep up with the Joneses". "Keeping up with the Joneses" means that... and that's exactly what the characters are doing. For example, many times in the book X character is doing Y (explain what is the link of the example with the expression).
