The war measures act was supposed to be used only in the event of serious emergencies. Do you think Prime Minister Trudeau was justified in invoking the war measures act during the October crisis since it meant many individual rights we're suspended as a result?

      Hi!

      Here's what I suggest you do to answer this question:

      1. Do some research. Find information about what happened in the October crisis. In what contexte were these measures used? It is important to know why the Prime Minister made that decision. Then, it will be easier to decide wheter you agree or not.
      2. Make of list of the rights that were suspedend.
      3. Now that you have the reasons behind that decision and the consequences on people's right, you should be able to decide if you agree or not with Prime Minister Trudeau.
