Hi, can someone help me please with the phrasal verbs because I don’t really understand how to use them and I have an exam this Monday on it ! Thanks

Phrasal verbs are a combination of a verb and an adverb or a verb and a preposition.

Here's some examples :

• Blow up (exploser, éclater)
• Break in (entrer par effraction)
• Come from (provenir de)
• Drop out (quitter l'école, décrochage scolaire)

In fact, there's two categories of phrasal verbs :

• Separable phrasal verbs : these phrasal verbs can be separated by another word.

For example, "I need to give back the book I borrowed from you." can become "I need to give it back."

• Inseperable phrasal verbs : these phrasal verbs can't be separated. 

For example : Students should have a teacher to look up to. In this sentence, we can't say "look it up" because it doesn't mean the same thing (Look it up = chercher, look up to = admirer) !
