Hello!
During the 1960s, the Government of Canada allowed many immigrants from non-Western countries to come and settle on its territory. These immigrants were selected on the basis of their professional training in order to meet labor needs.
However, Quebec was still demanding more autonomy in terms of immigration. These demands were part of a perspective of promoting the French language.
This is why in 1968, Quebec founded the Quebec Ministry of Immigration.
