You take the number 1 and you put a +/- after it, like this:

If you have a tax, we do 1+
If we have a discount we do 1-
In this case, we have a 20% discount (20% corresponds to 0.2, because we make 20/100). In consequence, we do 1-0.2 = 0.8.
After this step, we only need to multiply 10 by 0.8 and we get the answer!
