    Hello LémureMalin09,

Thank you for using the Help Zone! :)

I can certainly give you more information on the social groups of the Roman Empire.

The emperor was the central figure of the Empire. He held all the powers : political, religious, military, judicial and social.

The patricians constituted the upper class. Their status in society was transmitted at birth.

The plebeians were the majority of the Roman population : artisans, traders, etc.

The big differences between the patricians and the plebeians were their wealth and the influence they had on society. Plebeians and patricians were the only ones to have the status of Roman citizens. They had privileges such as participating in political life, using legal bodies, owning land, etc. They also had duties such as paying taxes, taking part in censuses and doing their military service.

Don’t hesitate to write to us if there is anything else ! :)

    Noémie
