How does light travel, and what are some examples of transparent, translucent, and opaque materials?

    Light travels in a straight line. 

    Transparent materials are materials that allow light to pass through. We all have some important transparent material in our house that lets us see snow while we are inside. 

    Translucent material allows light to pass through but is not quite transparent. In other words, light passes through but, we can't see everything on the other side.

    Finally, opaque materials are thick, and light cannot pass through. The curtains in my house are very opaque to let me sleep in the morning even though the sun rises.
